Delete your
account

1. Verification

We need to prevent someone else from deleting your account. We may ask you to confirm control of the account or provide limited information that matches the account. Never send us your password.

2. What is deleted

After verification and subject to legitimate retention requirements, account deletion covers:

• Your account record and authentication credentials.
• Personal profile information associated with the account.
• Exact private report coordinates associated with you.
• Uploaded photos or videos associated with reports, where deletion is appropriate.
• Comments, corroborations and other account-linked activity.

3. Public case files

Strange Skies is designed as a public observation archive. Depending on the circumstances, reports may be removed completely or retained in anonymised form without your username, exact location or other account identifiers. We may also retain limited information when reasonably required for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

We will explain the outcome of your request. Copies already made by independent third parties may remain outside our control.

4. Timing and backups

We will acknowledge your request and respond within the period required by applicable data-protection law. Verified deletion is applied to active systems first. Residual encrypted backups and security logs may persist for a limited rotation period before being overwritten.

5. Delete only certain data

You do not have to close your entire account. The same email pathway can be used to request deletion of a specific report, evidence file, comment, waitlist email address or other personal information. Include the relevant case number where possible.
